TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS

The foundation to any successful relationship is developing a partnership of trust, honesty, and respect.  I take the time to build relationships with my students so that we maximize our time together.  Learning takes place when the classroom environment feels comfortable, positive, and safe.

LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERYDAY - THE 1% RULE

The process of learning new concepts can be downright scary at times.  With so much new information being presented it is normal to feel overwhelmed!  Relax, it's okay to feel that way.  In fact, it's quite common.  A good way to alleviate some of that stress is by abiding to my philosophy that learning just one new thing per day will make you 1% better than you were the day before. If you focus on learning something new each day, eventually you will find that you have made significant improvements... so much so that you may be 50% better than you were at the start of the year!  Always remember that learning happens daily, not in a day.

DESIRE IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS

Desire, passion, determination and perseverance will allow students to succeed in life.  Within the classroom, students are responsible for genuinely caring about how they do in my class.  As your teacher, it is my duty to ignite that passion so that you perform well.

REALIZE YOUR POTENTIAL

Relationship building, a simple approach to learning one new thing per day, and a desire to succeed will all allow you to realize your full potential.  As a student, you have the potential to do as well as you like.  It is our job to work together to make sure that you are maxmizing your effort to be the best student you can be.  Together we will find what works best for you in hopes that you improve steadily!
